Your Life Does Not Get Better By Chance

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” - Jim Rohn
“Life not treating you well? Change your Attitude toward Life.”

It’s never too late or too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, you can stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same; there are no rules to when you need to change or not need to change. We can make the best or the worst of it. When you have grief in your life, illness to you or a family member, we can only hope and pray the situation improves and do as much as possible to assist in the improvement. We cannot change circumstances, we can change how we interact with our circumstances and the people involved. Circumstances can be good or not so good, and no matter what it is we want to either enhance the circumstance or change it.

“Too many people believe that circumstance rules their lives, when it is us that rule our circumstances.” - Paul Tiberian

We can change our thinking, our attitude toward life and to the world. All you need is to change your ego! I believe everyone wants to make the best of it. But as Leo Tolstoy said, "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

Grief and issues don’t change a person, they reveal the character of the person. A person can improve their character but it takes work, work and more work. Change isn’t something you read and memorize and it becomes a part of you.   Change requires self-monitoring not daily, not hourly but moment to moment. The great results are that it becomes easier moment to moment. How will you know? Simple, you will feel and understand the difference as it happens and when you reflect on the situation afterwards.

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” - Albert Einstein

How important is it for people to change if they don’t like their present life? You tell me. Generally speaking, your ego will improve; you will feel calmer, more in control of your life. Your family will become closer to you and to each other; great events begin to happen to them and you. This amazing change, for the better, you will notice in every aspect of your life and the life of your immediate family. Your family and friends will listen more attentively; they will seek your wisdom and be grateful to you for all your great advice. All of this will happen when you heed the advice from a 13th century philosopher, poet and scholar:

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” - Jalaluddin Rumi
Or
“You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.” - Jim Rohn

Tips on how to change your life:

  • Decide right now that you are changing your attitude toward life.
  • Bring calm to your mind, slow down your responses to allow yourself to think through what you plan on saying at that moment.
  • Challenge yourself to be accountable for every action you are about to commit and every word you plan on saying.
  • This takes practice and you will be regularly reverting back to speaking and acting without thought. It is O.K. as long as you continue to realize you need to change and do change little by little.
  • Blame no one for the circumstances that occur in your life. You will begin to realize that if there is blame (most of the time there is no blame) take the hit yourself for what happens to you. If the circumstance is not about you and someone directly asks you what happened, then always tell the truth even when it is a friend or relative.
  • Allow yourself to feel the pride of not hiding the truth and realizing the positive results of the new you because you are successful beginning right now, just remember the words of Earl Nightingale:
"Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal. "
